St. Joseph Medical Center Surgery Department
Buffalo, New York
This striking, contemporary second-floor surgery center is a welcome expansion to the existing hospital. The project includes a covered entryway on the first floor that improves patient drop-off by protecting them from Buffalo's unpredictable and inclement weather. The surgery waiting room on the second floor has large windows, exposing patients and their loved ones to natural light and sun, thus enhancing comfort and mood. The architects' expertise was ably demonstrated by keeping the hospital's main entryway open during construction.
