Scripps Memorial Hospital Pharmacy Renovation

La Jolla, California

This pharmacy renovation was carefully constructed in multiple phases to allow for the continued operation of the existing facility. One of the biggest construction challenges was to meet stringent infection control requirements that minimize cross-contamination between chemotherapy treatment and IV preparation. The pharmacy's anteroom is equipped with stainless steel cabinetry, so that cabinetry and countertops can be relocated and reused in the future, if necessary. A large sliding glass door separating the IV preparation room from the pharmacy anteroom helps to eliminate claustrophobia and enhance visual contact among users.
